Children are entitled to a free, quality basic education. Recognizing this entitlement, world leaders made the achievement of universal primary education by the year 2015 one of the Millennium Development Goals. In 2004, this goal appears to be out of reach for many poor countries. School attendance, especially for girls, is far from universal, and many children drop out of school before completing their primary education. Many children who do attend school receive an inadequate education because of poorly trained, underpaid teachers, overcrowded classrooms, and a lack of basic teaching tools such as textbooks, blackboards, and pens and paper.
The problem in many developing countries is that governments lack either the financial resources or the political will to meet their citizens' educational needs. In response, poor parents in some low income countries have organized and paid for their children's education themselves. It is true that school fees and other user payments are a heavy burden for some parents to bear. But, given the alternativechildren receiving no education at allsuch payments can represent a temporary, if less than ideal, solution to the problem.
THE ANDES FOUNDATION CORP. is created to Help as many Kids as we can to Achieve those education needs. We think Education is the only way to build a solid foundation in life.
We will help those kids by providing the tools to achieve their dreams. But we can't do it without your help. By being a sponsor, you can make a difference and help us to give a future to so many children in need. Please donate and help us to give a better education to these kids. Kimberly Erica Gallardo
Kimberly is only 4 years old and she has been fighting with cancer for the last 2 years. She is very thankful for all the presents she received for Christmas, and every time she can, she plays with them. For the last seven days she has been in Intensive Care at the LDS Hospital. The Andes Foundation is helping with economical support by paying for medicine and treatment, but she stills needs your help. Kimberly's family doesn't have the money to cover all the expenses, and the Medicaid she had was cancelled.
But there is hope for Kimberly. As a community we can help by providing the means to help with the treatment. She is a fighter, and has shown how much she wants to live and become a Doctor to help other kids.
She has to go through the Scanner again and she is so afraid of that. She calls it "the big doughnut". Help us to help her and her family. Please donate to this cause and let's give her the support she needs to go through this painful treatment.

Chile Earthquake Relief
An 8.8 earthquake hit just off the coast of Chile early Saturday morning, killing at least 802 people and creating tsunami warnings in more than 50 countries across the Pacific ocean. Thousands are believed to have been left homeless due to the widespread destruction of buildings.
The Chilean city of Constitucion was hit first by the quake, then by the waves, and now isolation.
This city of 55,000, whose death toll is expected to exceed 500, may well be the community hardest hit by the magnitude 8.8 quake that struck Chile. The temblor was quickly followed by Pacific Ocean waves that officials in Constitucion say reached 30 feet in height.
The earthquake knocked down and damaged hundreds of buildings here while the ensuing tsunami cut a 1 1/2 -mile swath of destruction through the town, dragging everything and everyone in its wake as the Maule River surged with seawater.
The once heavily populated coastal zone, where vacationers and residents have long strolled on a seaside walk, is a jumbled mass of debris. More than 90% of the city's downtown buildings were destroyed including several schools.
Children in the hardest-hit regions of Maule and Bio Bio did not go back to school last Monday, with their return delayed until late March or late April because so many schools were destroyed in the February 27 quake.
Elsewhere in Maule and Bio Bio, power outages and the lack of drinking water kept many schools's doors closed.
